DUE TO A FRESH DESIGN SOME PAGES ARE STILL INCOMPLETE - THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE
The workshop environment is one that can foster rapid growth as a photographer by sharing your photography, getting feedback from other photographers, learning while doing, and working closely with an experienced teacher. How does one develop an eye ? A personal workflow ? A sense of direction ? These are questions that will be answered in a workshop. Whether in a group, a semi-private, or private session the atmosphere of working in the field with like minded photographers stimulates and inspires like no other learning experience. Having organized and produced workshops for such companies as Leica Camera USA, via the Leica Akadamie for 8 years , then producing my own workshops for 4 years, I've found hands on workshops to be the best learning experience for those looking for direction and ways to establish their own creative path in photography. Sometimes a photographer needs many questions answered, but other times they need just a little jolt ! A workshop in the field can be just the right catalyst to find your way. Get involved! Get motivated! Get the creative juices flowing ! Try a workshop out today !
The workshops schedule below lists group workshops, up to 6 people. I find that with more than 6 people individual attention is sacrificed, and the logistics of moving everyone from place to place becomes an impediment to getting out there in the field and chasing light ! While large groups are also fun, smaller groups become more beneficial and engaging for everyone.
Private and semi-private groups can be arranged on an individual basis. They can be from one-day to 4 or 5 days, etc. Whatever is needed contact me for more information. Fees are worked out also on an individual basis.

The one thing I still remember when Im out photographing is Michaels teaching : " "you are responsible for every area in the frame, no excuses "
"I never knew anybody that knew as much about photography and the history of photography as Michael did."
"Mike spent a good hour with me one on one outside the workshop hours, thoroughly explaining a simple yet effective metering scheme to quickly and accurately find the correct exposure."
I struggled with gear, too much gear. Mike took my obsession with that and showed me how to free myself from it, by concentrating on whats going on around me, rather than if I had the right Noctilux, or filter in place. It was liberating learning it was me and not the camera that got the picture, the camera only recorded what I saw. Getting the picture was the important thing !
Michael had the best critiques I'd experienced. He did'nt criticize he critiqued, a very different thing. He also did'nt force us to " do it my way", but rather showed each of us how to develop our own ways and methods based on our goals, quite a different approach from what I'd gotten in other workshops.
"If the picture is not there, no amount of photoshop is going to make it a good picture-wait, search until you find something that gets you in the gut and inspires you to want to capture it, then others will respon d to that gut feeling..

Michael taught me that one has to be willing to go out and come back with nothing to show. That its just part of photography, but alo that the more you go out to photograph the luckier you get at finding good stuff !!
